Traffic stop by Medicine Hat Police Service leads to drug seizure

A 36-year-old Medicine Hat woman faces several charges following a drug seizure by police on Friday, May 22.

The Medicine Hat Police Service was investigating an unrelated matter when officers observed a vehicle displaying a stolen licence plate.

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy and psilocybin, with an estimated street value of $103,276.

Vanessa Denhollander was arrested and charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and single counts of possession of proceeds of crime, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and possession of a controlled substance.

Denhollander was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing before being released by a Justice of the Peace. She is scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on May 28, 2026.
