May 20, 2026 | 2:57 PM

Early-morning proactive patrols in Medicine Hat’s light industrial area led officers to a stolen vehicle from Redcliff, resulting in the arrest of two residents and multiple charges.

The Medicine Hat Police Service conducted proactive patrols in the city’s light industrial area in response to an increase in property crime at about 2:30 a.m. on May 13, when police observed a suspicious vehicle parked in an alley behind a closed business as two individuals exited the vehicle.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and identified the occupants as a 39-year-old male driver and a 31-year-old female passenger.

Police determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from a business in Redcliff, and both individuals were taken into custody without incident.

Darryl Paul, 39, of Medicine Hat, is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, breach of probation and four counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Tiffany Peters, 31, of Medicine Hat, is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Paul has been held for a judicial interim release hearing and remanded into custody pending his next court appearance, as Peters has been released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on June 24, 2026.

The stolen vehicle has been recovered and removed from the area.

Police said the incident highlights the value of proactive patrols in addressing property crime in industrial areas, particularly during overnight hours when businesses are closed.
