A trial will take place this summer for a Medicine Hat woman who is facing multiple charges related to her operation of a youth hockey program in the community.

The Medicine Hat Police Service laid charges against 46-year-old Nola Besplug following an investigation in September 2025.

She was charged with both fraud and theft over $5,000, and possession of proceeds of crime.

A not guilty plea was entered by Besplug on March 17, and the trial is set for Aug. 12-14, 2026.

Police said the charges stem from an investigation that was initiated in January 2025 after concerns were raised about funds collected for a youth hockey program.

The offences occurred between April 2024 and March 2025, according to police.

During this time, Besplug was the Manager of the Southeast Selects hockey team.

Police said the youth hockey community was impacted with multiple victims coming forward from across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Montana.
