The French for the Future Local Forum held at Medicine Hat College on Wednesday, March 25, explored real-world opportunities in French for students.

The event, organized by Canadian Parents for French Alberta and Northwest Territories, brought together 200 students in grades 7 to 12 from three schools for a day celebrating the French language.

Students engaged in a full day of activities, including the Introduction to special effects by Cinémagine workshop, a keynote speaker featuring Ahdithya Visweswaran, and dance along with Le Group Swing (LGS).

Visweswaran is a proud and multilingual Tamil Canadian who serves as the Director of Advocacy & Public Policy at Canadian Parents for French and has built a career that reflects both his passion for public service and his commitment to fostering bilingualism in Canada.

The Franco-Ontarian band LGS has become known for its unique musical style, which blends elements of traditional folk with modern genres such as pop, electronic music, and hip-hop.

By the end of the forum, students discovered the benefits of French for their futures and the opportunities it can open, while making new friends, exploring possibilities and having fun in the language.
