Here’s what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat: March 6-8

It’s the first full weekend of March, and temperatures are expected to be moderate this weekend before cooling late Sunday.

On Friday, the forecast from Environment Canada is sunny with a high of 10 C. In the evening, it’s expected to be clear with wind gusts up to 50 km/h and a low of 3 C.

Saturday is expected to be mainly sunny with wind gusts up to 60 km/h and a high of 17 C. The evening shows clear and a low of 9 C.

On Sunday, Showers and Wind are expected with a high of 12 C, before shifting to flurries and a low of -5 C in the evening.

🤝 2026 Home & Leisure Tradeshow

FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

The Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2026 Home & Leisure Tradeshow, taking place from March 6 to 8, bringing together a diverse range of businesses and attractions to the Cypress Centre at the Medicine Hat Stampede and Exhibition Grounds.

The show will feature exhibitors from industries including home improvement, healthcare, manufacturing, and recreation, along with returning tradeshow favourites.

Organizers say visitors can expect new products, services and technology from across the region, as well as a Food Alley and a children’s play area presented by Bounce of Fun.

Tickets are available for purchase online or at the door.

♣️ Game Night at the Kiwanis!

FRIDAY

The Kiwanis Centre hosts “Game Night at the Kiwanis!” every first and third Friday of the month.

Bring your board games, card games, or other tabletop games and enjoy the space to play.

If you bring only yourself, you can play one of the games kept in the centre or join in with someone else.

Entry is $5, with cans of pop and bags of chips available for $1.

Participants under 16 years of age are required to have a parent or a guardian present.

All funds stay with the Gas City Kiwanis Centre to help keep things running and in good repair.

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at 826 11th St. SE in Medicine Hat.

⚱️ TREX Opening Reception at Medalta

FRIDAY

An opening reception for two new exhibitions, Collision Course and The Looking Glass, will be held on Friday at Medalta, presented by TREX Southeast.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m., with visitors having a chance to meet artists and curators while viewing the exhibitions.

The evening will also feature light refreshments, drinks for purchase and live music from a local performer, along with interactive activities including a collage-making station and a room of mirrors.

🐯 Medicine Hat Tigers

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Tigers are set to play two division rivals this weekend, with the Red Deer Rebels at home on Friday and on the road against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Saturday.

Puck drop both nights is 7 p.m.

The radio broadcast pregame show on Wild 94.5 featuring Will Bryant is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, when he is joined on colour by Lance Doll, and by himself on Saturday at 6:45.

🎵 Home Routes Concert Series: Iona Lane

Friday

The Home Routes Concert Series continues at the Medicine Hat Public Library on Friday night.

Iona Lane is a Highlands-based singer-songwriter whose work is deeply rooted in landscape, ecology, and folklore.

Her music reflects her deep connection to coastal environments, expressed through evolving vocal lines, delicate guitar work, and the warm drone of the shruti box.

Tickets, $10 each or three for $24, are available at the Info Desk.

Half of the proceeds for this concert will be donated to the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society.

The concert begins at 7 p.m.

🐉 Paper Bag Princess

SATURDAY

Kids aged nine and under can complete a take-home activity kit featuring Robert Munsch’s book ‘The Paper Bag Princess’ at the Medicine Hat Public Library on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. while supplies last.

📽 Movies and Comedy at the Monarch Theatre

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

Two family-friendly movies are showing at the Monarch Theatre this weekend, as well as a comedy show.

Paw Patrol: Rocky’s Cat-Astorphe will be on the big screen at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Admission is $5 cash only for adults for Paw Patrol, with kids free. Doors open at 2:15 p.m.

Comedian Simon King, known for his bold, high-energy style and sharp storytelling, performs at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the adult-only show expected to end at 10 p.m.

Early bird tickets online are $27.96 and will jump up to $33.28.

On Sunday afternoon, The Little Rascals, a 1994 family comedy featuring a group of young boys and their adventure as they are set to participate in a soapbox car rally.

The show begins at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1 p.m. Admission is $5, cash only.

🌎 Kid’s Passport to the World

SATURDAY

The Saamis Immigration Services Association is hosting a free family event celebrating cultures from around the world, taking place on March 7 at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre.

The event takes place from 1 to 3:30 p.m., featuring hands-on activity stations where visitors can explore traditions from a variety of cultures through games, crafts and a themed scavenger hunt in the galleries.

Community groups, including Brooks & County Immigration Services and The Connection, will host tables where participants can collect stamps in a Passport to the World booklet while learning about different cultures.

Organizers say the afternoon will also include free face painting, music, snacks and other family-friendly activities.

🤥 Pinocchio

SATURDAY

The Alberta Musical Theatre Company’s award-winning musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale Pinocchio takes the stage at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $18 and available through tixx.ca.

🎙 Comedy for the Games

SUNDAY

A pair of comics are in Medicine Hat on Sunday at the Esplanade for Comedy for the Games.

An event where proceeds support the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat.

Cash Cab host Adam Growe and comedy festival regular Todd Ness will take to the stage, sure to have you laughing.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $57.75 and are available at tixx.ca.
