Medicine Hat Tigers prepare for weekend set against the Calgary Hitmen

Feb 27, 2026 | 11:33 AM

The Medicine Hat Tigers are set to conclude their regular-season series with the Calgary Hitmen this weekend as the two Central Division foes begin a home-and-home tonight inside the Scotiabank Saddledome.

This season, the Tigers hold a 5-1 record against the Hitmen, but the games have been close, with each of the last three having been one-goal games.

Medicine Hat holds an 11-point lead on the Edmonton Oil Kings for first place in the division with 11 games remaining in the regular season.

Calgary enters three points back of the Oil Kings for second in the division and third place in the conference.

The Hitmen have had a quiet but formidable season and hold an astounding 11-2-2-0 record against four of the top six seeds in the Eastern Conference.

The lone exception is the Medicine Hat Tigers, who have had the number of the club from Cow-Town holding them to just a 1-3-1-1 record.

Kale Dach leads the Hitmen in scoring this season with 67 points through 52 games and rides a six-game point streak into this weekend’s home-and-home.

Eric Tu has been a calming presence between the pipes in his first season as the Hitmen’s full-time starter, boasting a 21-9-5-0 record along with a 2.61 GAA and a 0.907 SV%.

Like his club, Tu has struggled this season against the Tabbies, holding just a 1-2-1-0 record and seeing his goals-against-average drop to 3.44 and save percentage to 0.883.

Medicine Hat will be without star defenseman Jonas Woo for the weekend set as he serves the remainder of a three-game suspension.

Markus and Liam Ruck will look to bear the offensive workload for the Tigers, and the two twins sit second and third in the WHL scoring race entering Friday.

Liam has 15 points over his last eight games, while Markus has 68 assists this season, the most in the entire Canadian Hockey League.

Puck drop from inside the Saddledome is slated for 7:00 p.m MST.

The pre-game show gets underway at 6:45 on WILD 94.5 FM.
