Small Funding Stream opens for City of Medicine Hat’s Capital Grant program

Feb 26, 2026 | 11:00 PM

The City of Medicine Hat is accepting expressions of interest for the Small Funding Stream of its Capital Grant program until Mar. 31 at 3 p.m. The application period opened on Thursday.

Created in 2025, the Capital Grant program has both small and large funding streams providing non-profit organizations in Medicine Hat with a straightforward and standardized way to submit funding requests for capital projects.

The City states that this process ensures a transparent and consistent framework for evaluating requests to foster partnerships that support community-focused initiatives.

A Capital project is considered a development or betterment of assets of physical substance, including land or land leases less than fair market value.

It is also required to have assets which have a useful life beyond one year, are used continuously, and are not for sale as part of regular operations.

Capital requests under $300,000 that cover up to 50 per cent of the eligible project costs are considered through the Small Funding Stream.

The City of Medicine Hat has only one form for expressions of interest on its website.

Any requests over $300,000 are automatically considered to be a Large Funding Stream request, which has no submission deadline.
