Medicine Hat Tigers battle Edmonton Oil Kings as Central Divison race heats up

Feb 24, 2026 | 11:00 AM

The Medicine Hat Tigers will aim to take a stranglehold lead in the Central Division tonight as they battle the Edmonton Oil Kings inside Rogers Place.

The Tabbies enter nine points up on the second-place Oil Kings with just 12 games remaining in the regular season.

Tonight’s matchup marks the penultimate meeting of the regular season between the two Eastern Conference juggernauts.

Their final matchup comes in Edmonton on March 7th.

Medicine Hat enters with points in each of their last seven games and riding a three-game win streak.

Their last regulation loss came back on February 4th on home ice to Edmonton.

Meanwhile, the Oil Kings enter with just two wins over their last six games and dropped back-to-back games this past weekend in Regina and Brandon while being outscored a combined 13-6.

In the regular season head-to-head, both clubs hold a 3-2-0-1 record.

The Tigers will be without three of their six starting defenseman, with Veeti Vaisanen, Niilopekka Muhonen, and Jonas Woo all not making the trip to Edmonton.

Vaisanen and Muhonen are rehabbing from injury while Woo is serving a suspension for a match penalty that was assessed in Saturday night’s 4-3 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Puck drop from inside Rogers Place is scheduled for 7:00 p.m MST.

The pre-game show gets underway at 6:45 p.m on WILD 94.5 FM.
