Medicine Hat’s Amy Fraser qualifies for Women’s Freestyle Skiing Halfpipe Final

Feb 19, 2026 | 6:31 PM

Medicine Hat’s Amy Fraser has qualified for the final in the Women’s Freestyle Skiing Halfpipe at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.

Her first run on Thursday scored a 79, which had Fraser in sixth place heading into the second run.

On that run, she improved with an 81.75 score, the fourth best of the second runs.

Overall, that held up as the seventh-best time in qualifying between the two runs, with 12 of the 21 competitors advancing to Saturday’s final starting at 11:30 a.m.

The final event will feature three runs on the halfpipe, allowing skiers to put up a score worthy of a medal.

The 30-year-old Fraser is in her second Olympic Games after finishing eighth in the Women’s Freestyle Skiing Halfpipe at the 2022 Beijing Games.

She is joined in the finals by two Canadian skiers, Calgary’s Cassie Sharpe, who finished third in qualifying, and Guelph’s Rachael Karker, who placed ninth.

Sharpe fell on her second run and was taken to hospital, so whether she will be able to compete on Saturday is still to be determined.

In 2022, Sharp won silver, and Karker won bronze.

The gold medal winner from 2022, China’s Ailing Eileen Gu, who was born in San Francisco placed fifth in qualifying.
