The Brooks Bandits announced the signing of defenceman Dane Sorenson from the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League on Tuesday.

Sorenson has a goal and an assist in 41 USHL games this season.

“We are extremely excited to add a defenceman of Dane’s calibre to our lineup,” said Director of Hockey Operations Wayne Labrie in a statement.

“His development at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, as well as with Sioux Falls in the USHL, has prepared him well. We know he will bring a high level of competitiveness and structure to our group.”

The 6-foot, 176-pound defenceman from Los Angeles, California, is committed to play at the University of Massachusetts at the NCAA Division I level following his junior career.

“Dane’s commitment to UMass further highlights the type of player and person he is,” Labrie said.
