Operation Street Sweep has been conducted by Brooks and Bassano RCMP

Brooks and Bassano RCMP, along with the Brooks/Redcliff RCMP Traffic Unit, the City of Brooks, and the County of Newell Peace Officers conducted Operation Street Sweep on Jan. 29, 2026.

The operation is focused on enhancing public safety and holding offenders accountable, locating individuals wanted on warrants, conducting compliance checks on previously charged offenders, and suppressing crime and aggressive driving.

Brooks Officers also conducted foot patrols in back alleys and the downtown sector, speaking with business owners about crime reduction measures and policing priorities, and engaging with the public.

The operation concluded with a total of 24 traffic tickets issued, 17 traffic warnings issued, 11 compliance checks on persons bound by court conditions, 12 outstanding warrants on 8 individuals, 2 of whom were held for bail hearings and transported to remand.

Bassano Detachment Commander Sgt. Joe Schmidt said the operation was a success in Bassano, highlighting cooperation with the Brooks Detachment, the County of Newell, and Brooks Peace Officers.
