Bryce Pickford named WHL Player of the Week for the second time this season

Jan 12, 2026 | 2:06 PM

After recording seven points in a pair of games this weekend, including his second career WHL hat-trick, Medicine Hat Tigers defenseman Bryce Pickford has been named the Western Hockey League Player of the Week.

It is the second time this season that Pickford has been recognized with the award, being named Player of the Week on December 8th, 2025.

Pickford leads all WHL skaters in goals this season with 32 and sits one goal shy of setting a WHL Internet era record and Medicine Hat Tigers franchise record for the most goals in a single-season by a blueliner.

The Chauvin, Alta., native is also riding a 16-game point streak, with 20 goals and 36 points over that span.

Those 20 goals alone would have Pickford tied for 17th in the WHL in goals.

The Montreal Canadiens’ third-rounder sits fourth in the WHL scoring race, six points back of Seattle Thunderbirds forward Cameron Schmidt for the league lead.

Pickford and the Tigers will aim to extend their win streak to a franchise record 18 games Wednesday night in Edmonton as the Tigers and Oil Kings battle for top spot in the Eastern Conference.
