Dec 4, 2025 | 2:37 PM

The second public consultation on the potential closure of two elementary schools in Medicine Hat is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4.

Southview Community School held its consultation on Wednesday, with Webster Niblock School now getting a chance to have its voice heard.

The meeting is at the Medicine Hat High School Cafeteria from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Last night, about 50 people attended a meeting about the potential closure of Southview Community School.

Tracy Hensel, the Medicine Hat Public School Division superintendent, said the discussion is difficult, but necessary, as the division plans for long-term infrastructure needs and responds to shifting student numbers.

A parent who attended last night’s meeting, Ashleigh Dixon, said it was a good opportunity to put questions on the table and get responses.
