Dec 1, 2025 | 9:08 AM

A 19-year-old Medicine Hat man faces multiple charges, including assault with a weapon, after the Medicine Hat Police Service responded to a call on Nov. 27, 2025.

At about 10:30 that evening, police attended to a report of a dispute at a residence in the 600 block of Eighth Street Southwest.

Upon arrival, officers were advised that a physical altercation involving a weapon was occurring inside the home.

Patrol officers confirmed that no additional victims or witnesses remained inside the residence and that a male suspect was still present.

Despite multiple attempts to communicate with the individual, police say the suspect refused to cooperate.

Members of the MHPS Tactical Team and Negotiator Team were then deployed.

The suspect was located within the residence and taken into custody safely and without injury.

Police said victims or witnesses at the scene reported no injuries.

Additional charges faced by the man include possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, resisting arrest, and five counts of disobeying a court order.

The man was held for a judicial interim release hearing and remanded into custody.

He is scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice on Dec. 1, 2025.
