Tigers score late, hand Raiders second regulation loss 3-2

Kadon McCann scored the eventual game-winner with 1:37 remaining in regulation to hand the Prince Albert Raiders just their second regulation loss of the season as the Medicine Hat Tigers won 3-2.

Riley Steen and Jonas Woo found the back of the net three minutes apart in the opening frame to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead, a lead they would carry into the intermission.

Prince Albert responded with a pair of goals in the middle frame from Jonah Sivertson and Daxon Rudolph, squaring the game up at two entering the third period.

The two clubs would trade chances in the final frame, but it remained tied halfway through the third.

Prince Albert would pose nonstop pressure on the Tigers, but Medicine Hat withstood the barrage.

McCann’s game-winner was a testament to the Tigers’ defensive prowess and ability to bend but not break.

After clearing the zone, McCann went in on the forecheck when a Prince Albert clearing attempt deflected off him and above the shoulder of a confused Michal Orsulak and in to give the Tigers the eventual win 3-2.

Orsulak turned aside 23 of 26 shots in the defeat.

Jordan Switzer was stellar in the win for the Tabbies, stopping 20 of 22 shots, including an incredible cross-crease save in the middle frame to, at the time, maintain a 2-0 Tiger lead.

Both teams will get an opportunity to run it back this coming Wednesday, December 3rd, as the two teams rematch inside Co-op Place to kick off the month of December.
