ASIRT determines officer used appropriate force in 2024 shooting of Medicine Hat man during standoff
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has concluded an investigation into a Medicine Hat Police Service shooting, causing the injury of a man with a mental health diagnosis.
On July 27, 2024, the police service received multiple 911 calls about a man discharging a firearm in an apartment building on the Southwest Hill in Medicine Hat.
Several officers attended this building, and negotiations with the man took place.
The events spanned multiple hours, and shots were fired by the man and returned by an officer.
