Liam Ruck played shootout hero as the Medicine Hat Tigers overcame a three-goal second-period deficit to defeat the Calgary Hitmen 7-6 in a shootout.

Tigers defenseman Veeti Vaisanen powered the Tiger offence with a pair of goals, while Kadon McCann, Noah Davidson, Liam Ruck, and Yaroslav Bryzgalov netted singles in the Tabbies comeback victory.

Bryzgalov broke an 11-game goalless drought to knot the game at six with 6:27 remaining in regulation after the Tabbies found themselves trailing the Hitmen by three late in the second period.

Medicine Hat second-year netminder Jordan Switzer saw his night come to a swift close after allowing three goals on the Hitmen’s first seven shots.

Carter Casey would come in in relief and made 16 saves on 19 shots in the win.

The Hitmen offensive charge was led by 20-year-old forward Harrison Lodewyk, who picked up a pair of goals.

Brandon Gorzynski, Ethan Moore, Andrei Molgachev, and Ben MacBeath also each added a goal in the defeat.

Aidan Hesse stopped 30 of 36 shots in the shootout loss.

The two clubs will face off one more time tomorrow afternoon in Calgary to conclude three games in a five-day span against one another.
