Rebels tackle Tigers in a shootout 4-3

Nov 21, 2025 | 11:05 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers fell to the Red Deer Rebels 4-3 in a shootout Friday night to begin a three-game in three three-night span for the club.

Both clubs scored a pair of goals in under a minute as the game sat square at two through 20 minutes.

An own goal against would lead to the Rebels taking their first lead of the night on the power play shortly under the halfway mark of the middle frame.

95 seconds later, the Tigers would make up for the error, knotting the game back even at three off a Kadon McCann deflection.

Both teams would trade chances throughout the remaining 30 minutes of regulation, but neither could find the back of the net.

The Rebels had several chances late in the third, including back-to-back power play chances that included 21 seconds of 5-on-3 play, but failed to capitalize as the game went to overtime.

The extra frame proved fruitless, and a shootout would be needed to determine a winner.

Rebels forwards Samuel Drancak and Beckett Hamilton scored on the first two attempts for the Rebels, ultimately winning them the game after both Tiger shooters failed to score.

With the point, Medicine Hat now has points in four straight games and ten of their last 12, holding a 5-2-3-2 record over that span.

The Tigers are back in action tomorrow night as they take on the Calgary Hitmen for the second time this week, in the second game of the club’s three-in-three.
