Province aiming to create safer homes, brighter futures for youth
Alberta’s government says it is supporting and strengthening occupational health and safety practices in child and youth facilities.
Over the next two years, the province says it is investing more than $650,000 to help approximately 50 child and youth agencies strengthen their occupational health and safety practices.
This funding is expected to help create safer environments for front-line staff and the children and youth in their care and directly contribute to reducing workplace risks, improved safety protocols, training and support for staff.
“I am thankful for the commitment shown by staff in child and youth facilities across Alberta,” states Searle Turton, Minister of Children and Family Services, in a press release Wednesday. “This investment will enhance their safety by improving training, strengthening working conditions and ensuring consistent safety practices no matter where they work.”
