Medicine Hat councillor candidate Robinson focuses on economic growth as main priority if elected

Oct 10, 2025 | 11:05 AM

Brian Robinson is running for council in Medicine Hat and has made economic growth the key priority in his campaign.

“I want us to be able to be there for new businesses, new opportunities that come from all different areas,” Robinson said.

Robinson said new opportunities are coming from all different areas.

“We look at the schools in Medicine Hat now that are teaching the airplane pilots and then drone technologies and all these other types of things that are beginning to start up around Medicine Hat,” Robinson said.

As these different areas expand, Robinson said Medicine Hat needs to be open to developing business out of these areas.

“As kids get educated in that, hopefully they can come and they can develop their businesses in Medicine Hat and the young guys can stay,” Robinson said.

“And we can maybe we’ll get that growth that I really would like to have.”

Robinson said having spent over 30 years working in the construction industry, he can lend a perspective to the red tape issue in Medicine Hat.

“We can help find a solution to making it easier to develop and easier to say to people that want to work in or to come to Medicine Hat, these doors are wide open,” Robinson said.

“And we are here to help you. Help you thrive and survive and grow within our beautiful city.”

This is the first time Robinson has run for council, but it is not the first time he has served the city.

“With my construction company, we put our forces together and we built Saamis Rotary Park,” Robinson said.

Robinson is passionate about running for council and has decided to run for council now that he’s retired.

“I have the time, I can dedicate a hundred percent. This will be my full-time job if I get elected on October 20th,” Robinson said.

Robinson has lived in Medicine Hat since he was four years of age, after his Dad retired from the Air Force.

“It’s my home. It’s the only place I’ve ever wanted to live,” said Robinson.
