The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has apprehended a southern Albertan on charges relating to drug smuggling.

On Sunday, August 7, 2025, officers at the Calgary International Airport were conducting outbound exams when they intercepted luggage that had been flagged for abnormalities.

The bag was allegedly found to contain around 4.5 kilograms of cannabis, while the woman’s carry-on luggage reportedly had 5.2 grams of fentanyl, 2.1 grams of cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

Superintendent Sean Boser with the RCMP thanked their partners at the CBSA for helping to keep communities safe.

“By working closely with our partners, we are able to better prevent the spread of illicit drugs and reduce the harm they cause. Collaboration is key to protecting people and supporting safer communities,” says Boser.

Amy Diane Haydu, 46, of Stavely, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of exporting and one count of attempting to export goods that are prohibited, controlled or regulated.

She is scheduled to appear in court in Calgary on Sept. 19, 2025.
