Medicine Hat Tennis Club’s summer mixed doubles tournament has 32 players

The Medicine Hat Tennis Club‘s summer mixed doubles tournament had 32 players participating over the weekend this year.

The open event went to a third set as Aarren Russell and Thomas Fentabil defeated Tracy and Calvin Heller 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 to win the championship.

In the B side event Reina and Jordan Schibler were able to beat CoraLee and Kevin Riehl in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.

In the intermediate division, the A side final had a mother and son team of Margaret and Josh Klok win over Carla Thorogood and David Schnare, with scores of 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

The intermediate B side was won by a grandma and grandson team of Sheila Reinheller and Lincoln Bensler, would defeated the daughter and father team of Maryn and Geoff Paulgaard 4-6,6-2,6-2.

The C side intermediate winners where Francesca Jonker and Noel Thomas def Gail Nelson and John Ambrosi in a very close game that went 5-7,6-3,10-7.

Next up for the tennis club is the Tennis Alberta Junior Tournament they host from Aug. 1-3.

The Medicine Hat open singles and doubles event is also set for Aug. 20-24.
