34-year-old man faces multiple charges after robbery on Medicine Hat’s South Hill

The Medicine Hat Police Service patrol section responded to reports of an armed robbery at a private residence in the city during the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 16.

Police said an armed robbery had occurred at a private residence in the 200 block of Eighth Street SE, the suspects then fled to the 0 to 100 block of 11th Street SE, where officers quickly located and contained them.

The investigation was continued by the major crime unit, and a subsequent search warrant was executed, resulting in the recovery of five stolen firearms along with the personal items taken during the robbery.

A 34-year-old male has been charged with sixteen offences, including robbery, break and enter, and multiple firearms charges as a result of the investigation.

The accused remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Police said the investigation has determined this to be a targeted incident, and they are committed to ensuring the safety the community and will pursue all leads until this case is concluded.
