Medicine Hat Tigers: ‘Can’t miss games’ of the 2025-26 season

Jul 10, 2025 | 12:15 PM

With the 2025-26 Western Hockey League schedule set in stone, here are five games for Tiger fans to circle on their calendars for the now six-time WHL champion Medicine Hat Tigers.

1) Sept. 20 vs. Regina Pats

The home opener, otherwise known as banner night, will see the Medicine Hat Tigers raise a total of four banners into the rafters inside Co-op Place, celebrating their sixth WHL title in franchise history.

Meanwhile, the club across from the ‘Cats will be an interesting watch.

The Regina Pats held the first and third overall picks in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft, selecting Maddox Schultz (1) and Liam Pue (3).

With players away at NHL training camps to begin the season, there is a chance Tiger fans could see the WHL debut for two of the league’s top young talents while the Tigers aim to kick their title defense off on a high note.

2) Oct. 14 vs. Spokane Chiefs

This is a rematch of the 2025 WHL Finals and serves as the lone regular-season meeting of the year between the Chiefs and Tigers.

One can be sure the Spokane Chiefs have had this game circled on their calendar since the schedule was released in late June.

Tiger fans will want to keep an eye out for 2026 NHL draft-eligible prospect Mathis Preston, who will lead the charge for the Chiefs as they aim to avenge their defeat in the WHL Finals.

This will also be the Tigers’ final home game of October before they embark on a nearly three-week-long B.C. Division road trip and a stretch that sees them play 15 of their next 20 games on the road.

3) Oct. 25 vs. Kelowna Rockets

The 2026 Memorial Cup hosts welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers in the penultimate game of the Tigers’ B.C Division road trip in a game you can be sure the Tigers will be up for.

Despite not having been awarded the Memorial Cup, the Tigers will certainly view this game as an opportunity to make a statement to the selection committee.

Medicine Hat will enter having won their last four games against the Kelowna Rockets, with their last defeat coming in a 2-1 loss back on December 15th, 2018.

4) Feb. 14 vs. Everett Silvertips

The Landon DuPont show will pay visit to Co-op Place in February for likely the only time in his WHL career.

The projected top pick in the 2027 NHL Draft had an outstanding rookie season, taking home both WHL and CHL Rookie of the Year awards.

The Calgary, Alta., native will surely look to show out in front of friends and family on the Silvertips’ trip through Alberta.

The Everett Silvertips won the Scotty Monroe Memorial Trophy as the WHL Regular Season champions last year, and look to be bringing back most of their core from that group.

Expect Everett to be a powerhouse in the Western Conference next season, and this game will be Tiger fans lone time to see them in person.

5) March 21 vs. Red Deer Rebels

The regular season finale doubles as Fan Appreciation Night and, hopefully, a tune-up for another deep playoff run for the Tigers.

Pre-game, the Tigers’ year-end awards will be handed out on the ice before two heated division rivals do battle to conclude their respective regular seasons.

The Red Deer Rebels missed the playoffs last season for the first time since 2014 and, like the Tigers, will hope for this game to be a tune-up for their return to the postseason.
