Severe thunderstorm watch lifted for Medicine Hat and area

A severe thunderstorm watch issued for Medicine Hat and area Friday afternoon was later lifted.

Conditions were favourable for the development of thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain, according to Environment Canada.

Thunderstorms were forecasted to continue developing in the afternoon and early evening.

Some of these thunderstorms could have also produced funnel clouds, the national weather agency said.

The weather alert said driving conditions could have been difficult.
