Medicine Hat man faces drug and firearm charges
A 50-year old Medicine Hat man faces several drug charges after local police executed a search warrant in the 400 block of Sierra Blvd Southwest on Tuesday.
The search resulted in the seizure of two rifles and ammunition, 1.8 kilograms of cocaine, $35,766 in Canadian currency, and multiple cartons of unstamped cigarettes.
The man has been charged with extortion, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of stolen property.
The man was detained and remains in custody pending a court appearance Thursday in Medicine Hat Provincial Court.
