A body found in Cypress County earlier this year has been positively identified as a Medicine Hat man, Redcliff RCMP reported Tuesday.

The Mounties began an investigation into reported missing person Clayton Martens in January.

Redcliff RCMP in early March received a report of human remains found in a remote location in Cypress County.

The body was transported to the chief medical examiner’s Calgary office, where was identified as 38-year-old Martens.

An investigation, aided by the Alberta RCMP’s major crimes unit, is ongoing.

Police are looking into the circumstances around Martens’ death and how his body was moved to the county.

Anyone with information about this death are asked to contact the Redcliff RCMP at 403-548-2222.
