Lethbridge mayor Blair Hyggen has issues a challenge to Medicine Hat’s mayor Linnsie Clark ahead of Friday nights game one of the Western Hockey League’s Eastern Conference Final.

Hyggen’s social media post made at about 1 p.m. Friday said, that the gloves are off and a challenge is been made.

“Lethbridge Hurricanes vs. Medicine Hat Tigers in Round 3 of the WHL playoffs. Losing Mayor wears the opposing team jersey to their next City Council meeting AND lights up their City Hall / Town Square for a day,” Hyggen’s post said.

“Will you accept the challenge Mayor Linnsie Clark – Mayor of Medicine Hat of City of Medicine Hat? You and your City are going to look great in Red Mayor Clark!!! #yql #gocanesgo”

It was responded to by Medicine Hat mayor Linnsie Clark just after 4 p.m. Friday.

“Linnsie Clark – Mayor of Medicine Hat accepts Blaine Hyggen – Mayor of Lethbridge’s bet ahead of the Eastern Conference Finals series between the Medicine Hat Tigers and Hurricanes,” Clarks post said.

“What’s at stake? The losing Mayor wears the opposing team’s jersey to their next City Council meeting AND lights up their City Hall/Towne Square for a day,” she added.

“You may feel we’d look good in red, Mayor Hyggen… but all we’ll say is this: Orange you glad that our 10-1 win was only in the regular season😉. Best of luck, and go Tigers!”

The Tigers and Hurricanes play game one tonight at the Co-op Place starting at 7 p.m.

Will Bryant and Lance Doll will have the pre-game broadcast on Wild 94.5 starting at 6:30 p.m.
