Brooks Bandits move on to BCHL’s Interior Conference Finals

The Brooks Bandits are the first team to book a spot into the British Columbia Hockey League‘s Interior Conference Finals.

Completing a series sweep over the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Wednesday night with a 6-4 Bandits win in a back and forth game.

The Bandits next opponent will come out of a series between the Penticton Vees and Cranbrook Bucks.

With the Vees up three games to none, that series could be completed Thursday in Cranbook.

For the Bandits, game four wasn’t looking great after period one down 2-0 to the Crusaders in Sherwood Park.

A second period which had the two teams score a combined eight goals went in favour of the Bandits as they tallied six goals in the frame to take a 6-4 lead into the third, which ended up being the final.

The Bandits had five players find the back of the net, with captain Ethan Beyer scoring a pair from the blue line and adding an assist.

Bandits forward Luke Bibby had a four point night scoring and adding three assists.

Goaltender Zach Zahara stopped 24 of 28 shots for the Bandits in his ninth consecutive playoff start to get the win.

The Bandits next game will be Friday, May 2.
