Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat and area: April 17-20

The long weekend has arrived.

It will be sunny all weekend in Medicine Hat, according to the Environment Canada forecast.

Friday will reach a peak of 13 C, Saturday will be the warmest day at 20 C and Sunday is set to hit 15 C.

🐅Tigers home game, if necessary

Saturday

The Medicine Hat Tigers are playing Game 4 in Prince Albert on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Will Bryant and Lance Doll will have the radio broadcast on Wild 94.5 starting with the pre-game at 6:30 p.m.

The Tigers already up 3-0 in the second round WHL series can win the best- of-seven on Thursday night.

If the Raiders win on Thursday game five will take place at Co-op Place on Saturday at 4 p.m.

🌳 Free compost

The City of Medicine Hat is offering three free compost days in 2025 and this weekend brings the first.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, residents can take up to 10 gallons per household in SureGrow compost.

Pick up is taking place at 1453 Hutchinson Ave.

🏒Bandits playoffs

Friday and Saturday

The Brooks Bandits start the second round of the British Columbia Hockey League playoffs this weekend.

The Bandits play host to the Sherwood Park Crusaders in an all Alberta best-of-seven series.

Game one goes Friday, with game two on Saturday.

Both games at the Centennial Regional Arena start at 7 p.m.

🥚 Easter egg hunt

Saturday

Arrkann Trailer and RV is hosting an indoor Easter egg hunt this weekend.

It runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Participants are also eligible to win goodies, organizers say.

🐶 Pet Adoption Event

Saturday

APARC Medicine Hat is hosting an adoption event at Animal World on Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.

They will have some furry friends to meet and hang out with to hopefully find them their forever homes.

⛪️ City wide Good Friday service

Friday

The Medicine Hat Evangelical Association is hosting a city wide Good Friday service at Co-op Place Friday morning.

Inviting people to come together as a city to embrace Christ in humility on his journey to the cross.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m., service starts at 10:30 a.m.

📽 Easter weekend film at library

Saturday

“Jesus Christ Superstar” is a translation of the rock-opera from the stage to the screen.

Told entirely in song, images and music, the story focuses on the last weeks of Christ’s life.

The film begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Medicine Hat Public Library.
