Four Medicine Hat Tigers named to NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings

NHL Central Scouting has released their year-end rankings, and four Medicine Hat Tigers cracked the list.

Bryce Pickford was the highest-ranked Tiger, listed as the 100th-ranked North American skater.

“Yeah, it’s nice to see, but I’m trying not to look too far ahead here,” Pickford said.

Kadon McCann (116) and Jonas Woo (156) were the other Tigers skaters to crack the list.

Jonas Woo and Bryce Pickford have been a key defensive pairing for the Tigers all season, and Pickford was thrilled to see his buddy listed along side him.

“Love to see him [Woo] on that list.”

“He’s an unreal player, and hopefully he climbs it,” added Pickford.

Tigers’ rookie netminder Jordan Switzer saw his name appear on the rankings for the first time this season, ranked 25th amongst North American goaltenders.

“It feels good,” Switzer said when asked about the recognition.

Splitting starts with 20-year old netminder Harrison Meneghin, Switzer didn’t know what to expect coming into the year but credits Meneghin with helping develop his play.

“A guy like Harrison, NHL Drafted – he’s gone through it, and he was always by my side giving me the confidence when I needed it most, and I gotta give props to him.”

Switzer made his first two career playoff starts in Games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, with both coming in wins.

Game 3 goes Wednesday night in Prince Albert, and it remains unclear whether Switzer or Meneghin will get the start.

No matter the netminder, the Tigers will aim to take a 3-0 stranglehold lead in the best-of-seven series as they look to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2014.

You can catch the action for Game 3 on WILD 94.5, with the pre-game show beginning at 6:30 p.m.
