A Medicine Hat woman faces several charges after allegedly pulled a knife on her roommate.

Police say they responded to a disturbance on the 2600 block of 21st Avenue Southeast on Saturday evening.

Patrol officers arrived to find the windows of a house smashed by the 54-year-old woman, the Medicine Hat Police Service said in a Tuesday news release.

Police said they determined the woman had assaulted her roommate with a knife and threatened him.

Officers successfully negotiated with the suspect and took her into custody without further incident, police said.

The woman was charged with two counts of uttering threats, breach of a court order, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Police said she was held for a bail hearing and remained in custody pending a Medicine Hat provincial court appearance on Tuesday.
