Brooks Bandits take on Sherwood Park Crusaders in all Alberta BCHL playoff series

Apr 13, 2025 | 8:25 PM

The Brooks Bandits will take on the Sherwood Park Crusaders in an all Alberta second round BCHL playoff contest.

An upset by the Coastal Division’s sixth seed Cranbrook Bucks 1-0 over the third seed Trail Smoke Eaters on Sunday, set up the second round opponents.

The Bucks will face now the first place Penticton Vees in round two.

In six meetings between the Bandits and Crusaders in the regular season it was all even, with each team winning three contests.

The Crusaders have the leagues top two regular season point producers in 2007 born forwards Jeremy Loranger and Kale Dach.

Each played in 54 regular season games, Loranger putting up 105 points, Dach with 87.

Loranger leads the playoff points race to this point as well with 11 points in four games, while Dach is right behind him with nine points.

The Crusaders wrapped up a first round sweep of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks last Wednesday.

The Bandits took five games and an 5-4 overtime win Friday as Nick Peluso scored the game winner and a hat trick to wrap up the series with the West Kelowna Warriors.

Forwards Luke Bibby and Nick Peluso are the top two in playoff offense for the Bandits with seven and six points through five games.

Twenty of the Bandits 23 players who have skated in the series have at least one point.

The Crusaders haven’t quite seen the same level of depth scoring with 12 of their 22 skaters registering a point in the first round.

Home ice will remain with the Bandits for the second round, with tickets now on sale for game one and two at the Centennial Regional Arena on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. each night.
