Medicine Hat mayor’s city hall access restored to status she had before sanctions

Feb 3, 2025 | 11:50 PM

Mayor Linnsie Clark’s full city hall access was restored after Medicine Hat council approval Monday evening.

Clark’s ability to enter certain areas of the building was restricted after council placed sanctions on her in March 2024.

However, Clark’s correspondence with chief administrator Ann Mitchell must continue to be copied to the rest of council “to ensure effective communication”, read the motion.

Also, the acting or deputy mayor will be invited to attend administrative committee meetings.

It was the last outstanding sanction on the mayor that was for several months left unresolved after a Calgary judge sent it back for council to work out.

Only Coun. Cassi Hider voted against the motion.

Couns. Shila Sharps, Andy McGrogan, Alison Van Dyke, Allison Knodel, Robert Dumanowski and Darren Hirsch voted in favour.

Clark and Coun. Ramona Robins were not present at council Monday.
