The Christmas set up at 602 Seventh Avenue Southwest just north of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital is slowly coming down, and is expected to be gone in another week.

An area that was full with 164 inflatables, allowing people to walk through the festive area over the month of December.

Setup starts after Remembrance Day each year, and usually lasts a couple weeks.

Organizer Shane Matuska said the display started with about 50 inflatables in 2019, and will continue to grow by about 20 each year.

The Medicine Hat SPCA has received a donation of over $3,000 each year it has been set up, with this year’s total close to $4,000.

Matuska said the SPCA is very appreciative.

“They’re just thrilled. They can’t believe that the community is that willing,” Matuska said.

“It is nice to see. I don’t expect donations, but I do have that box, and the community really turns out for it.”

Matuska said he just loves Christmas, and the smiles the display provides for the parents and the kids that enjoy it, making it worth it to do each year.
