A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at-large from federal corrections was arrested by Medicine Hat police on Saturday.

Police responded to a residence on Anson Avenue Southwest to assist the owner of a short-term rental with the removal of an overdue renter.

Officers found three individuals at the residence, including the man wanted on a warrant. He was arrested immediately, police said.

During the investigation, officers discovered two loaded firearms, ammunition, cocaine and evidence of drug trafficking within the residence.

The 39-year-old wanted man was hit with various firearm possession charges, a count of trafficking a controlled substance and possession of proceeds of a crime.

Two others found at the residence were also hit with citations, the Medicine Hat Police Service said.

A 42-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman received various firearm charges.

The woman was also charged with failure to comply with a probation order.

The wanted man was remanded into custody until Jan. 7 and the other man until Dec. 27.

The woman was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 16.
