The City of Medicine Hat has completed an upgrade to lighting around the boating lake at Echo Dale Regional Park.

The upgrade will allow better utilization of the area during evening hours.

Eight existing poles with deficient lighting where upgraded to an L-E-D fixture, to enhance the experience around the boat lake at the park.

Also being completed at Echo Dale is the removal of two unneeded cattle gates, this will increase path accessibility to Gas City Campground for those with mobility aids or scooters.

Jamie McLeod, manager of asset planning, Parks and Rec Department, City of Medicine Hat said they are excited to get people out and utilizing this beautiful area.

“”It made sense for us to reutilize the poles because they weren’t past their anticipated lifespan,” McLeod said.

“We’re taking a look kind of holistically across Echo Dale on how we can implement new amenities and enhance the park kind of across the board.”

The city has also completed a kilometer of trail restoration and some landscape rehabilitation at Police Point Park.
