Medicine Hat gets first mini roundabout as part of city pilot project

Sep 25, 2024 | 10:56 AM

Medicine Hat has its first mini roundabout on a city road.

It’s part of a pilot project by the City of Medicine Hat as it builds more traffic calming elements that involve the use of signage, pavement markings and landscaping elements.

The pilot project includes two locations on Eighth Street Southeast at Second Avenue Southeast and Fourth Avenue Southeast.

Staff will monitor the effectiveness of the pilot measures over a two-year period.

Then, they will take what they learn and incorporate it into its active transportation, transportation safety and transportation safety plans.

Future implementation of traffic calming measures may be considered at that time, the city says.
