The Medicine Hat Tigers continue to shape their roster heading into the 2024-25 WHL Season.

Coming to Medicine Hat from the Prince Albert Raiders is forward Ryder Ritchie, who was a 2nd round pick, 45th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

Shipped to Prince Albert is forward Tomas Mrsic, a 4th round pick of the St. Louis Blues 113th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

The Raiders will also receive a 2025 3rd round pick and a conditional 2028 3rd round pick.

Ritchie has played in 108 WHL games for the Raiders, with 99 points, 39 goals and 60 assists.

Ritchie won the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as the WHL’s Rookie of the Year during the 2022-23 season.

Tigers head coach and general manager Willie Desjardins said in a statement they are excited to get Ryder Ritchie.

“Ryder has played alongside Gavin McKenna while on the Canadian National Team. We would like to welcome Ryder and his family to the Tigers,” Desjardins said.

In 131 WHL games with the Tigers Mrsic had 86 points with 33 goals and 53 assists.

Desjardins said Mrsic had been a very good player for the Tigers.

“It was great to see him get drafted, this year at the NHL Draft. We wish him and his family all the best moving forward with Prince Albert,” said Desjardins.
