‘Hear the laughs and giggles’: Golden Atlantis Water Park huge summer hit

Golden Sheaf Park has seen overnight and weekend visiting climb to new heights with day rates nearly doubling since last year.

Park board member Faith Singh said that the interest in the park is due in part to the recently built Golden Atlantis Water Park.

“Long weekend, we’re packed. Full capacity. It’s been a beautiful summer so far. So during the weekends, it’s full. During the week, the people that are here for two weeks a month at a time, they stay and so it’s full like that,” Singh said.

“Atlantis has been a great bringer-inner for the day rates and for the kids that are just camping out here.”

Golden Atlantis manager and co-owner Jo-Ann Routledge said that the popularity of the park has spiked in recent weeks due to favourable weather conditions and that they’ve been approached by other cities to add more parks.

Routledge said they are considering adding more pieces to their current setup and that feedback from southern Alberta has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Well, Medicine Hat and area needed something like this because we haven’t had anything since the water slides closed and that’s going on almost 20 years,” Routledge said.

“So to bring something like this and to listen and hear the laughter and the giggles that comes out of it, it’s really something special.”

Singh added that with the rising costs in the province, Golden Atlantis has proven to be a hit with the community looking for low-cost entertainment.

“What I say is go to a show and see what you get. This is going to leave memories, laughs, giggles, it’s fabulous. You’re in the sun, you’re having a great time, who doesn’t like the water,” Singh said.

“Their prices to me are more than fair. We’re so lucky in southern Alberta to even have this. I mean, good old Rattlesnakes, Golden Sheaf Park is the one that got it.”
