South Country Co-op says its working to mitigate shortage of ‘favourite products’

South Country Co-op says it is working to mitigate a shortage of common items caused by the cybersecurity incident that caused chaos to the chain’s systems late last month.

It acknowledged in statement Monday that “some of your favourite products might be missing from our shelves.”

“Our team is diligently working to mitigate the impact to our local suppliers while also making efforts to bring in more local products,” the company added.

“We anticipate some relief in the near future but thank you all for your patience, understanding and support at this time.”

South Country Co-op serves Medicine Hat and dozens of other communities across southern Alberta.

Federated Co-operatives Limited, the corporate head of the western Canada-based fuel and retail brand, said in June that it was hit by a cybersecurity incident that impacted many of its locations and the company’s supply distribution system.

All 398 Co-op cardlock fuel stations returned to full operation and were able to once again service customers, the company said July 4.
