A severe thunderstorm watch issued for Medicine Hat and area Friday has since been lifted
Thunderstorms were expected to develop this afternoon and move slowly eastward through the day, according to an Environment Canada alert.
Some of the thunderstorms could have produced strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain, according to the alert.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall.
