Medicine Hat property taxes due Friday

City of Medicine Hat property taxes are due Friday.

A penalty rate of eight per cent will be added to any unpaid balance by 4:30 p.m., according to the city.

However, residents enrolled in the city’s tax installment payment plan do not have to worry about payment.

The 2024 tax penalty will be applied on the first business day of the month based on the minimum balance on the account during the previous month.

Penalties are not compounded, and the amount of the penalty is calculated by multiplying the rate, by the amount of the unpaid taxes.

Medicine Hat’s annual penalty rate is 14 per cent.

Payments can be made through phone or online banking, in-person at city hall through cash, Interac or cheque, mailing in a cheque or via a credit card.
