City of Medicine Hat launches survey for land use bylaw feedback

Jun 18, 2024 | 2:44 PM

The City of Medicine Hat has launched a community survey to get feedback on its land use bylaw.

The land use rules control development by categorizing all properties in a city into various land use districts, such as residential for homes or commercial for businesses.

The bylaw governs what land use may occur on every piece of property and establishes a system for issuing development permits.

The current version of the bylaw was passed in 2013.

A land use bylaw refresh was needed to better align with the policies of the city’s Municipal Development Plan that was passed by council in 2020, according to a news release.

Those interested can fill out the survey by July 31 on the city’s Shape Your City page.

There will also be additional public engagement opportunities after the draft document has been completed.
