Campers might love the night sky Golden Sheaf Park is known for, but now there will be another summer activity to appeal to campers as the six-thousand square foot Golden Atlantis Aqua Park had their grand opening at Rattlesnake Lake.

Echo Dale was considered as a location, but ultimately decided by the team that it was too small.

General manager Amanda Herrmann said Rattlesnake Lake was ultimately decided on as it’s a popular camping area, had good water levels and was large enough to hold the park.

Inspired by her Ontario-family and knowing that this is only the second water obstacle course of this size in Alberta, the other being in Sylvan Lake, Hermann wanted to add another item to Medicine Hat’s growing tourism belt.

“It’s family ran, so it’s a really big deal to us. We’re hoping that the community really likes it. We really wanted it to be a big tourist attraction and bring people together and have some enjoyment in the water,” Herrmann said.

“If you don’t have a boat, you can come on this instead, and you get a ton of play area.”

The park is planned to run every day this summer, seven days a week between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., weather permitting.
