Severe thunderstorm watch lifted for Medicine Hat and area

A severe thunderstorm watch issued for Medicine Hat, Bow Island and Suffield shortly before noon on Monday has been lifted.
The potential for severe thunderstorm development will existed in the afternoon and early evening, Environment Canada said in the watch notice.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.
There was a chance of showers and risk of thunderstorms in the area until 7 p.m., according to the Environment Canada forecast.
