Severe thunderstorm warning for Medicine Hat ends

A severe thunderstorm warning issued by Environment Canada for Medicine Hat and area Tuesday evening has since ended.

It comes after various watches and warnings were issued for areas across Alberta including Brooks, Strathmore, Lethbridge, High River, Okotoks and others.

Conditions were favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts Tuesday evening, according to Environment Canada.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The warning comes two hours after a thunderstorm watch was issued.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
