Federal test emergency alert sent out Wednesday

A test emergency alert was sent to the phones of Canadians across the county on Wednesday.

All mobile phones, with the exception of Ontario, received the alert shortly before noon.

“This is a test of the National Public Alerting System by the Government of Canada. No action is required,” it read.

An Ontario version of the test is scheduled for May 15.
