Skinny’s Smokehouse closes after over a decade serving Medicine Hat

Skinny’s Smoke House has closed after over a decade of operation in Medicine Hat.

The BBQ joint wasn’t getting enough business to justify keeping the doors open, owner Albert Stark told CHAT News on Wednesday.

While the establishment enjoyed serving Hatters as long as it did, Stark said it only broke close to even with sales.

The establishment will continue to provide catering services until the end of August, management said.

Skinny’s last day in operation was on April 28, according to a note posted to the door of the former restaurant.

The BBQ joint was founded by Jeff Brewster and Todd Lindsay in 2013 at a location downtown Medicine Hat.

Skinny’s moved in June 2018 to a corner property in the city’s north end at the intersection of Box Springs Boulevard and Box Springs Street Northwest.

Stark said a Medicine Hat law firm has bought the building and plan to move in by December.
