New Medicine Hat campaign aims to create city ambassadors

The City of Medicine Hat, working specifically with the Economic Development department, has created a new social media campagin aimed to embrace what the city has to offer while creating new city ambassadors.

Titled “A Different Kind of Energy”, the campaign is trying to get Hatters to explain what they love about the city and then posting it on social media. Submissions have included photos, videos and a written story.

Gillian Reimer said that the goal is to not only celebrate what Medicine Hat and the surrounding area has to offer, but also attract new business and residents.

“This campaign is really to build some brand ambassadors within our community. City staff, we’re trying, we’re doing what we can, all of our supporters there are doing what we can,” Reimer said.

“We really need a full community effort to attract new residents, to attract new business. We need the community to help us spread that message and to tell people ‘this is a great place, you should consider it’,” she said.

Community members will be able to make their submissions about why they love the community until the end of May.

The campaign winner will receive a prize worth $1,500 which will include a golf package, tickets to Jazzfest and a hot air balloon ride for two for next summers Rise Up Festival.
